This 6-week course is literally not for everyone. It’s for those who have 1) taken previous novel-writing classes or retreats at Shocking Real Life, and 2) want to push themselves beyond their comfort zone and take their writing to new heights. This novel writing workshop is for budding novelists who are ready for book editing as well as specific feedback on their work from a curated symposium of creative minds (not to mention your venerated instructor, Hollis Gillespie). When you take this online workshop, you won’t just have weekly reading assignments and/or online lectures — you’ll get to expand your writers group and focus solely on completing your novel. Live online video-conference workshops are held Wednesdays, 7–9pm, taped and made available for anytime during the duration of the course. You can attend live or check in later.
In this course you’ll spend 6 weeks completing your manuscript—all while garnering the valuable feedback, encouragement and ass-kicking necessary to finish writing your novel. You’ll also learn specific tips for outlining and how NOT to write a novel.
Criteria for taking this class:
Enrollment in the Shocking Real Life Writer’s Retreat or novel-writing classes 101 or 201.
