In class, you’ll learn how to:

  • Read analytics reports and interpret key performance indicators
  • Become an affiliate marketer to begin making money from day one
  • Use effective tagging, SEO writing, and responding to comments
  • Integrate social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube)
  • Monetize your blog through ads, sponsorships, affiliates, and digital products by packaging your overall brand
  • Leverage your blog toward a larger platform, such as publishing, speaking, and consulting
  • Identify your audience and conduct keyword research accordingly
  • Use Google Trends and the Google Keyword Tool to understand keyword densities
  • Use social networking sites to distribute your work and build your authority for search engine ranking
  • Apply techniques for effective tagging
  • Navigate through the ever-changing landscape of Search to maintain visibility

By the end of class, you’ll have:
An understanding of how to use analytics to improve your content and a content plan for increasing traffic and exposure. And an understanding of the factors that can get your website to the top of search engine results, and how to use social media and search marketing to drive traffic to your website.

Instructors:

She has been profiled in Marie ClaireBust, Entertainment Weekly and Writers Digest, which named Hollis “Breakout Author of the Year.” Her television appearances include The Tonight Show with Jay LenoTBS Storyline, Monica Kaufman’s CloseupsGood Day Atlanta, and TV Land. Her radio commentaries appear regularly on National Public Radio (NPR) and Georgia Public Broadcasting. Other accolades include “Best Columnist” (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) and “Best Local Author” (2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009) honors in the Creative Loafing Best of Atlanta Readers Survey. Atlanta magazine awarded her “Best ‘Tell-All’” in 2006. Rick HowingtonRick Howington is the owner of TechAdvocate Solutions and LanternTec web design and hosting company and the administrator of the venerated Biology of Technology blog, and he is known as “The Blog Fixer” at the SRL Learning Center. He’s the go-to guy we always recommend when students have more sophisticated needs for their blogs (like, “How do I insert a live feed from one blog into another?” or “How can I make my blog print counterfeit money?”) He is wonderfully patient, super knowledgeable and can attract adorable woodland creatures with his gentle aura.

We’re located just north of Downtown Atlanta in the Virginia Highlands area. Our Atlanta creative writing students come from Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb, and Gwinnett County. They come from midtown, Marietta, Norcross, Sandy Springs, near the perimeter, outside the perimeter, on Peachtree or north of metro Atlanta. That includes Suwanee, Lithonia, Lawrenceville, Kennesaw, Emory, Douglasville, Decatur, Chamblee, Conyers, Buford, Alpharetta, Saturn, Pluto, and the occasional escapee from the nearest black hole.
