The Facebook Pages Workshops

Facebook is the largest social network in the world, with over 750 million users, so if you haven’t figured out how to harness this show pony for all its potential, what’s stopping you? A Facebook fan page is essential for business owners of any size (that means you, writers and bloggers) looking to expand their presence and reach their audience. Facebook fan pages act as interactive business cards and go light years toward connecting you with the people who will put money in your pocket. Because, make no mistake, your competitors are figuring this out — you need to know how, too.

Due to popular demand, I have split the Facebook Pages Workshop into two separate workshops.

We’ve all been in a workshop where one of these two scenarios occurs:

  1. You’re lost in the shuffle and don’t know which questions to ask to catch up and suddenly, you realize you’ve wasted your money because this class is beyond you. You’d like to ask the class to circle back and just say that one part again, but you realize that everyone else is ready to move on to the next topic.
  2. You’re sitting around, counting the cuticles on your fingers because somebody is asking the most basic questions and the class just can’t seem to keep moving because this person can’t keep up. You’re ready to take somebody by the shoulders and shake ‘em because WE JUST TALKED ABOUT THAT FIVE MINUTES AGO. FOLLOW ALONG!

The Level I Workshop will be called Intro to Facebook Pages.

This class is designed for two levels of beginngers: one, the folks who don’t even HAVE a Facebook profile for personal use and, FOR SURE, don’t know how to use one. And two, for those who have a profile and maybe even a page, but are so afraid of “breaking it” that they haven’t begun to really dig in and nose things around.

In The Level I Workshop, we will start from the most very basic of principals and go through the “bones” of the dashboard, explaining all the features in great detail. I will lead you, by example, through building a page from the very most beginning stages. You can come to this class with absolutely nothing in terms of a Facebook page and by the time you leave, you will have a page and you will know how to use it. I am also going to leave extra time in this class for personal page attention. Sometimes, you just can’t articulate to google what it is you want to do — this is your opportunity to come and have those questions answered. This class will be excellent for visual learners and those that tend to get “lost” within the maze of Facebook. This is also a really great opportunity for you to let me convince you just how much a Facebook Page can do for you, so if you’ve been on the fence about whether or not you want to make one, this is the one for you!

The Level II Workshop is called The Custom Facebook Page.

This is going to be where we really roll our sleeves up and get our hands dirty. In order to take the Level II class you’ll either need to have taken the Level I class (or a previous Facebook Workshop with me) or you can submit your request to audit the Level I class to me by email. This class is for the more savvy Facebook user. You should know what an RSS feed is, understand why Facebook is relevant (no doubters!) and have an existing page created. This class will focus more on marketing and how to socially network. That phrase gets tossed around a lot, “social network,” but do you really know HOW to networking using Facebook? Some questions we will answer: How do I get more likes? Why aren’t people posting on my page? How do I deal with spam? How do I read my insights? What about social plugins? If you know what Facebook is, this is the class to show you HOW.

What is an iFrame, you ask?

Please don’t be intimidated by iFrames! They function a lot like the old FBML application, but better. You are now able to integrate MORE features into your custom landing pages than before! And the best part? There’s an app for that! You don’t need to be a developer or code-brained, tech-head to make it all work beautifully! The Static iFrame app makes it easier for you to market your stuff on Facebook, turn likes into conversions and drive traffic to your blog or website! It sounds intimidating, but believe me, it’s easy to learn if you can find someone to teach you, especially if that someone is a social-media nerd with a backround in graphic art and a sense of humor.

In these classes, you will learn by doing things like:

  • The basics of a professional Facebook page
  • How to set up your own Facebook page (in case you don’t already have one)
  • Best practices for marketing through Facebook and how to measure its success
  • How to boost your fan page’s success using iFrames, RSS feeds & other Third-Party applications
  • How to incorporate social media plugins into your wordpress blog
  • How to separate the personal from the professional
  • How to create a default landing page and custom tabs
  • What makes a great profile image
  • How to use Insights to track your progress
  • and more!

You’ll also leave with a lot of reading material to help you when you get home.

Plus, you can network with other small business owners in Atlanta (and soon in Athens)!
